I started learning guitar when I was 13 years old (37 years ago) I started off with a wonderful teacher who taught me to read music and work on the music I liked (Hard Rock at the time). Unfortunatly he left to continue his education and his replacement and subsiquesnt teachers through high school did not continue my reading and when I started studing in college I was behind and vowed I would never do that to any of my students. Having been a "TAB player" I know you miss a lot in not reading standard notation, regardless of if you become a professional musicician or not.

I started to teach guitar lessons at age 20 and continued for 21 years with this philosophy and turned out thousands of students who could really play and they continue to play years after studying with me and some became professional musicians. In 2011 I started to work at Winter Park High, where I taught 6 classes of guitar levels 1-4. I left in 2014 I left to go back to teaching private one on one lessons this time online.
